The Liverpool Trainee Research Collaborative (LTRC):

Trainee collaboratives across the country have made significant advances in clinical based research, with multicentre studies and trials. The necessity for collaboration between centres to develop patient cohorts has never been more important in trying to establish the best treatments and innovations. The LTRC has been created to support and encourage trainees to undertake clinical projects and improve patient outcomes through collaborative research.

The LTRC collaborates closely with the North West Surgical Trials Centre (NWSTC) and benefits from their support and expertise. This group is supported by senior clinicians who provide supervision and guidance on research projects.

Our Aims:

  •          To improve patient outcomes through multicentre collaborative research.
  •          To educate trainees in the basics of research methodology.
  •          To develop multicentre audits/cohort studies and clinical trials.
  •          To foster cross specialty trainee collaboration in many fields.
  •          To collaborate with other groups/collaboratives and develop national  projects.
  •          To nurture future Principle Investigators (PIs)

We meet monthly/bimonthly to discuss ideas, form educational objectives and review research projects.
