Care of the Dying Child: development, implementation and evaluation of the Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Child
|Open||Alder Hey Children's NHS||0|
This study focuses on developing, implementing and evaluating the Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Child (LCPC). Version 7 (v7) of the LCPC is an adaption of the adult Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Patient (LCP), which is a core component of the Department of Health end of life care programme for adults. The LCPC aims to provide detailed, professional guidance to ensure that children receive the best possible end of life care in the home, hospital or hospice setting. Dying children and their families have different needs to dying adults and the LCPC was initially developed with this in mind. The pilot of the LCPC v7 commenced in April 2006 in a community and a hospice setting.
