General Laboratory
The ECMC is positioned within the Schools of Cancer Study and Biomedical Sciences and uses the basic translational and clinical research infrastructure within these Schools. Both Schools have high quality purpose-equipped laboratory space, with unrestricted use of facilities by LECMC members and staff. Laboratories are mostly Class 2, equipped for molecular biology, DNA and protein based analyses, Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic evaluation, as well as specialist activities. The Cancer Tissue Bank Research Centre which stores thousands of tissue samples has facilities for tissue microarray construction, and immunohistochemistry.
In addition to these laboratories, purpose-built GCLP facilities will be opening shortly. These laboratories will be fully equipped for sample reception, logging, processing (including cell separation from blood) and storage. In addition, equipment for specific assays is also in place and we aim to move these assays into the GCLP facility as soon as possible.
